5 Reasons to Attend Therapy
Starting therapy can be very intimidating for many reasons! You’re telling me that I’m supposed to talk to this random person about the most sensitive parts of my life that I have never told anyone before?! While that might be true, I never expect my clients to start out with their deepest, darkest secrets. I also tell people that therapy might not be the only option! You might want to start with a book, podcast, mindfulness practices, or seeking support from loved ones.
There does come a time, however, when therapy is a great and necessary option! I often relate therapy to the medical field. If you got a cut on your leg, you’d probably first start with a bandaid. If that bandaid works, great - no need to seek medical attention. If that cut, however, is deep, isn’t healing, and/or becomes infected, you’d of course go to a doctor. I think of therapy similarly - everyone deals with stress, anxiety, low days, etc., but when those days become more intense, more frequent, last more than just a day, and/or start interfering with your life, it might be time to consider starting therapy. Below are some more concrete reasons why therapy might be right for you!
